Premiers 2013

Saturday 16th May 2020. Centenary of the Bencubbin Football Club's first game. The game was played on Sunday 16th May 1920 at the Mandiga Sports Ground. Bencubbin won by six points. Best on ground was Charlie Collins Jnr. Charlie was Geoff's father and Terry's grandfather. He had played for CBC Fremantle previously.

Nungarin-Trayning Mail of 22 May 1920. sets out that the first official game of football in the Mount Marshall District was played between Bencubbin and Mandiga at the latter's ground on 16 May 1920 [Sunday]

Bencubbin won by six points and the best player was Charlie Collins junr [Geoff's father and Terry and Michael's grandfather], late vice captain Christian Brothers College [Fremantle]. In the absence of A.E. Marsh[Jack Clough's grandfather] Basil Hopwood umpired and refreshments were served by ladies supporters at F.C. Leuba's house.

The Bencubbin colours were black and white , while Mandiga wore maroon.
